The German Language


A video that shows how harsh and even angry the German language can sound compared to other languages: French, English, Italian and Spanish.  Although, obviously, it's more how the man is saying the words rather the German language itself.

Why Aye Man - Mark Knoplfer


'Why Aye Man' is a song by British singer-songwriter Mark Knoplfer.  The words 'why aye man' mean 'hello' or 'yes' and are used by people from Newcastle (also known as Geordies) which is in the North East of England.  The song is from his album 'The Ragpickers Dream' (2002). 

The song was also used in the third series of the British comedy drama series 'Auf Wiedersehen, Pet' about a group of British builders who have to find work abroad because there are no jobs in Britain.  If you really want to test out your English check out the series on YouTube. The Newcastle accent is one of the most difficult to understand.

Need to Believe - Gotthard


Gotthard are a Swiss heavy metal band from Lugano.  'Need to Believe' was released in 2009 from the album of the same name.  Sadly, Steve Lee, who was the lead singer, died in a crash whilst on a motorcycle holiday in the USA in 2010.  This song was suggested by Amanda in A6 who says Gotthard are one of her favourite rock bands and this song is their 'most gorgeous.'  She also misses Steve Lee.
