Walk on The Wild Side - Lou Reed

 

 

Lou Reed died yesterday.  He was one of the most influential songwriters of his generation.  Above is his most famous solo hit 'A Walk on the Wildside' (1972).  Below are 'Endless Cycle' (1989) and the Velvet Underground's  'Stephanie Says' (1968) and 'Sunday Morning' (1967).

 

 

 

More Than Friends - Inna (ft Daddy Yankee)

Inna is Romanian singer songwriter and dancer from a village called Neptun near the Black Sea.  'More Than Friends'  features vocals by Puerto Rican reggaeton and hip hop artist Daddy Yankee.  It is from her third studio album 'Party Never Ends' (2013).  This song was suggested by Clara in T4.

Gangnam Style - Psy

 

 

Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-sang), is a South Koren Singer songwriter and TV personality. Gangnam Style is from his album Psy 6 (Six Rules), Part 1 (2012) and was the first video on YouTube to reach over one billion hits.  This song was suggested by Alfonso in T4.

It's My Party - Jesse J

Jesse J is an English singer songwriter from London, England.   'It's My Party' is from her second album 'Alive' (2013).  Below is an acoustic version of the song.  This song was suggested by Montse in T4.

This Suffering - Billy Talent

Billy Talent is a Canadian punk rock band from Mississauga, Ontario.  'This Suffering' (2007) is from the album of the same name.  This song was suggested by Eduardo in FCE.

Alright - Supergrass

Supergrass were an alternative rock band from Oxford, England.  'Alright' was from their debut album 'I Should Coco' (1995).  The song is about teenagers having fun and has a very summery vibe to it.  However, it was in fact written in a very cold cottage.

Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio

Coolio is an American rapper from Compton, California.  This song is from his album 'Gangsta's Paradise' (1995).  The song is sampled from Stevie Wonder's 'Pastime Paradise' (1976).

Mama You've Been on My Mind - Jeff Buckley

Jeff Buckley was an alternative/ folk American singer-songwriter.  This song was recorded in 1994 and was originally written by Bob Dylan in 1964 although he never officially released it.  The bootleg version was eventually released in 1991.

Novocaine For the Soul - Eels

Eels are an American alternative rock band from California.  'Novocaine from the Soul' is from their debut album 'Beautiful Feak' (1996).  The song samples 'Let the four Winds blow' (1961) by Fats Domino.
